Jin’s Low Relief Moulded Gourd: A representative project of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage

浅浮き彫り（ローレリーフ）型取り瓢箪流「北京の小靳（ジン）」は、北京無形文化遺産代表的項目名簿に登録されています。

JIN Jianmin is a Chinese artist and artisan based in Beijing, highly regarded for his outstanding aesthetic work in ornamental bottle-gourd moulding (calabash). Traditionally, moulded gourds were imperial artifacts, primarily used to house pet chirping insects, such as the Chinese katydid, during winter.

北京を拠点とするアーティストであり職人でもある靳建民は、型取り瓢箪における卓越した美意識によって高い評価を得ています。型取り瓢箪は古来より皇室に愛用され、冬には中国のキリギリスなどの鳴く虫を収める器として親しまれてきました。

Jianmin was among the first to master and oversee the entire process of ornamental gourd moulding, which involves more than forty steps. These steps include designing the ware and motifs; drawing and transferring patterns; sculpting and preparing moulds; cultivating and managing the gourds; and post-harvest processing.

靳建民は、40を超える工程を含む観賞用瓢箪の型取り装飾の全プロセスを習得し、統括できる最初の人物の一人です。これらの工程には、器とモチーフのデザイン、図案の制作と転写、型の彫刻と準備、瓢箪の栽培と管理、収穫後の加工などが含まれます。

Using his masterfully executed low-relief finish, a signature technique, Jianmin tirelessly refines artistic effects that can be achieved in constrained spaces, enhancing them with his Gongbi skills. He consistently innovates new forms of ware and participates in ongoing cross-disciplinary projects.

彼の特徴的な技法である浅浮き彫りの仕上げを見事に行い、狭い空間でも可能な芸術的表現を絶えず研ぎ澄ませ、工筆の技でそれらを引き立てています。また、新しい形の作品を継続的に創出し、異分野とのプロジェクトにも積極的に関わっています。

Recognised in Beijing as an Inheritor of Intangible Cultural Heritage, equivalent to a Living Human Treasure, Jin’s skill in gourd moulding was officially included on the Beijing Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014, in recognition of his accomplishments. His work was later documented again in the Beijing Intangible Cultural Series (Volume 4) in 2016.

北京市において無形文化遺産の継承者として認定され、人間国宝に相当する地位を有する靳建民の瓢箪型取り技術は、2014年に北京市無形文化遺産代表名録にその功績が正式に登録されました。2016年には、北京無形文化シリーズ（第4巻）にも彼の作品が再び記録されています。

Because of their artistic and cultural significance, Jin Jianmin’s works are highly prized by many local collectors.

その芸術的および文化的意義のために、靳建民の作品は多くの地元のコレクターに非常に高く評価され、求められています。

Jianmin is also a passionate advocate for preserving the tradition of appreciating chirping insects — a cultural practice once widespread in East Asia.
